PRE is holding a canned food drive until Friday, December 14th. Thank you to the families who have already donated one or more cans.
Enchanted Book Fair
Our book fair is now open in the morning and after school for families. Students may visit the book fair with the intention to buy during recess. Our class will be visiting the book fair on Tuesday, December 11th. Your child is welcome to bring money to purchase items, but please limit the amount of cash your child brings to avoid issues. The book fair is also available online if you are unable to make it to the school to purchase the books. The books ordered online will be delivered to the school and should be ready after winter break.
Native Hawaiian Plants and Animals Presentation
Sorry for the mix up. The presentation with Mr. Mahoney is this week. This presentation has been paid for through a donation from Papahanakuaola. There will be a second presentation in January before the Kamananui Valley Hike field trip in February. The permission form and money collection will take place after the break. In addition to the donation we received, we also were awarded the Target Field Trip Grant to help subsidize the cost of the presentations, bus and admission costs. The original cost of these experiences were slated to be close to $20, but thanks to the donation and grant, it should be less than $10.
The fourth graders will be performing for the 2nd quarter Maika'i Assembly on Wednesday, December 19th. Due to limited space, this performance is closed to only the students and parents of the Maika'i awardees. I will try to record the performance and post it on our class site for you to enjoy. Please have your child wear a plain red, green or white or a combination of any three shirt. Students are welcome to wear a Santa hat or other festive headgear as long as it isn't distracting or blocking another student's face.
End of quarter
The last day of the second quarter is Friday, December 21st. Our Wednesday and Friday schedules are switched so Wednesday dismissal will be 2:10 and Friday dismissal is 12:45. Please plan accordingly. With the end of the quarter coming to a quick end, students will be busy wrapping up the quarter and taking their end of unit and quarter assessments. If you know your child will be out on a certain day or will be leaving early for a trip or any other reason, please let me know.
Holiday celebration/secret santa gift exchange
We will be having our Cherry on Top class party (Class prize from Hustle for Health) on Thursday, December 20th. We will also do our Secret Santa gift exchange on this day. If your child will be participating, please have him/her bring in a wrapped gift (value no more than $5). Students will not know who will be the lucky recipient of their gift so please bring in an item that could be enjoyed by either gender. Suggestions of what you could get include a gift card, small toy or puzzle, book, supplies such as pencils, erasers, notebook, etc. The book fair may have items until $5 that students would enjoy.
