M5 Parent Letter
All of the parent letters are available to download through our class site in the "student learning" section. Please check out the parent letter for module 5 to read about what we will be covering in the next couple of weeks.
Student evidence binders
Thank you to all families for helping to make parent teacher conferences run smoothly. I appreciate you taking the time to meet and coming on time as well as ending on time.
Please return the comment sheet (page 4 of the report card), conference evaluation (green sheet-optional), and evidence binder (keep contents in prongs) by next week Tuesday, November 12th so we can continue to add work throughout the year.
iReady
The students have been working on their iReady lessons in class and, beginning second quarter, have also been encouraged to use iReady at home.
Read the overview for families handout below to familiarize yourself with iReady. You can also view the Family Video to hear more about iReady.
Students should be aiming to pass at least 1 lesson per week, in addition to working for 30-45 minutes per week. Reading is our current priority, but can work on the Math as time allows. The more lessons they complete and pass, the greater the growth your child will see. Please allow your child to work on their iReady lessons independently.
I will be sharing with you another report that shows their typical growth if they do the minimum and stretch growth if they work hard at passing multiple lessons per week.

PBL
Our school is implementing a Project Based Learning (PBL) unit this year. Each grade will have eight sessions with a support team member who will help guide us through the PBL process. Our school focus this year is Physical Fitness. Students will be working in groups and doing research related to the topic. PBL will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the afternoon for the month of November beginning tomorrow, November 5th. Students should wear shoes for tomorrow's first PBL session.
