Aloha C1-C Families,
Wow! What a school year it turned out to be! I would like to send out a huge appreciation to all of you for taking on the role of being your child's teacher at home in addition to being their parent/guardian. Not only did the students make it through, but so did all of you! It was great seeing many of you during the supply pick up. I appreciate the thoughtful gifts and letters I received.

Report cards
Your child's report cards were scheduled to go out today. However, there were some tech issues I encountered so Mr. Takeguchi will be looking into this today. I will send it out as soon as possible.

Student contact/email list
Several students showed an interest in being able to continue communication with their peers. Their PRE gmail account is intended for school use so I invite you to share an email address that you permit to be put on a list that will be shared with other classmates.
Click on link below:
Email collection form
The students are also welcome to email me if they want to share anything with me throughout the summer. I'd love to hear from them to see how they are doing.

Summer learning options
Unfortunately, iReady will not be available through the summer. As long as the programs are still free to use, the students are welcome to use Actively Learn, KidBiz, BrainPop, and Epic. I believe many of these companies offered free-use through the end of June. Prodigy and Khan Academy should continue to be available beyond the end of June. Khan Academy has a beta for Reading.

C1-C site
I will leave the class site up until mid-July in case you needed to access anything from it. I tried uploading the slideshow to our class site, but it said the file was too huge and suggested I compress it first. I will try and see if that works but I also put the link below.

Link to slideshow
I'm so happy that so many students showed up for our final WebEx. Here is the link to the slideshow I created for the class.

Slideshow link: PRE Slideshow 2019-2020

Thank you for your support and understanding throughout the school year, especially during distance learning. The way the year ended wasn't quite what anyone expected, but we made the best of the situation and got through it together. Wishing your child the best in the years to come. I hope everyone has a great summer!
Thank you,
Mrs. Au

Aloha C1-C Families,

Today is our final WebEx meeting at 2:00 pm. A link to join will be sent to your child's PRE gmail account. I hope your child will be able to attend the meeting. I have a special presentation I made for the children. This will also be a good opportunity for the students to see their classmates again one last time for the school year.

A friendly reminder that tomorrow is the curbside supply pick up. This message was in an email sent on May 16th:

Supply pick up - Information was shared in the May parent bulletin about the procedures and time of the pick up in the VP's message section. All school-issued books, lunch loans and borrowed chromebooks should be returned before picking up yearbooks and supplies. If you need to check on your child's outstanding obligations, it is recommended to call at least 2-3 days before the 29th.
Grade 4 pick up time is from 10:00-11:00 on Friday, May 29th. Refer to the bulletin for a map of the planned route to drop off remaining library books and chromebooks, and pick up yearbooks and student supplies. If you have multiple children at PRE, your pick up time is from 12:00-1:00. All student supplies will be held in the cafeteria so please come during your scheduled time to help the flow of traffic. Please also have a sign ready on your dashboard with the following information in LARGE print:
Student name
Teacher name
Grade

I will be helping at the supply pick up so if it works out for you, your child is welcome to go along for a ride.
Thank you,
Mrs. Au

Aloha C1-C Families,
We have our WebEx meeting this afternoon at 2:00 pm. A link to join the meeting will be sent to your child's PRE gmail account. There's a chance today's meeting may be an hour instead of 45 minutes so that we can go over this week's assignments as well as review some Math and do Science. If your child is unable to stay for the full session, they are able to exit the meeting when they need to leave. After today, we have one more scheduled meeting on Friday, May 22nd at 11:00 am. I would like to schedule one last meeting on the students' last day, Thursday, May 28th. If you didn't get to complete the survey of availability yet, please do so by Friday, May 22nd.

Hi C1-C Families,
We have our next WebEx scheduled for tomorrow at 11:00 if your child is able to attend. I am still in the process of cleaning up my classroom and closing things up so I plan to make it a short meeting with a brief check-in to see how they are doing and go over any questions (especially the math). Please tell them to have their Math SJ ready with them for the meeting and a pencil. I will send them the link to join, to their PRE gmail account in the morning.
Thank you,
Mrs. Au

Distance Learning (May 11-15)

Aloha C1-C Families,
I hope you had a pleasant Mother's Day weekend. Please remember to drop off your PRE library books today between 9 am-11 am. Your child's supplies will be ready for drive-thru pick-up on May 29th.

Starting this week, the Origo Math at Home will be covering new material (module 10). Each day has a video to watch and suggested SJ pages to complete. I am not assigning new Khan assignments. Instead, please have your child watch the Origo video each day and work on the SJ pages recommended on the Math Learning Board for Week 7 in the blue section. It is helpful if you are able to go through the video with your child. There are moments throughout the video where they can pause it and talk about their responses. They cover the entire module in one week, which is not our usual pacing so have your child do his/her best to complete the assigned SJ pages and any unfinished pages can be worked on during the weekend or when your child has time.

We have our WebEx meeting this afternoon at 2pm. Please remind your child to complete the circuits prediction Google form prior to the meeting. I hope to see your child this afternoon.

Have a wonderful day!
~Mrs. Au

webEx tom0rrow/ Spirit day: Disney

Aloha C1-C Families,
Tomorrow is our next WebEx meeting at 11:00 for students who are able to attend. I will send the invitation to join to the students' PRE gmail account tomorrow morning. We will be reviewing the DLR from this week, decimals and Choose Love.
It is also our final spirit day for the year and the theme is Disney. I would love to see the students dress up with something Disney related, whether it's a shirt, headband, hat or maybe even a costume. Take a picture and send it to me and I will post it on our class site. They can also wear it to our class meeting. In celebration of the theme, here are a couple of Disney related activities you can do with your child or even the whole family when you have time:
  • Happily Ever After fireworks show
  • Enjoy an Olaf short
Have a great rest of your day.

Aloha C1-C Families,
If your child will be attending the WebEx session tomorrow, please have your child have the following items ready:
1. DLR
2. A couple of sheets of paper and markers (easier to see than pencil)
OR
Whiteboard and dry erase pen with something to erase with (tissue, small towel)
*If you have a dry erase pen, you can make your own "whiteboard" with a plain white paper and a sheet protector.
Thank you,
Mrs. Au
