Aloha C1-C Families,
It's nice to hear that several students are looking forward to getting back to doing school work again. Please remind them to read directions carefully and do quality work in everything they do. This is a new experience for all of us so there may be hiccups along the way and it may take some time to adjust. The fourth-grade teachers tried to keep the work expectation simple at this time and avoid overloading students and parents. This week will be a time to set up accounts and familiarize yourselves with the various online resources. I will be taking things one week at a time and will adjust the material as necessary. I will also be working on report cards this week since we need to complete them by Friday, April 3rd, which is earlier than originally scheduled. Admin is still figuring out a plan on how report cards will be distributed to families. Stay tuned.
To get started for this week your child will need to do the following:
1. Sign-in to Google Classroom (see tutorial on our class page for help)
2. Instructions on our regular class page (Mrs. Au 2019-2020), post #124 will direct them to join a new classroom by using the class code: ddlfj2p
(see tutorial on our class page for how to join a class)
3. Students read post #1 (Posts #1-6 are instructions on setting up accounts )
4. This week's enrichment activities are on posts #7-11
Please have your child work at a pace that works for your family's schedule. The activities are meant to be spread out for the week. Avoid having your child complete the tasks all in one day. They are not expected to work for the full 6-hour school day. This will allow families with multiple children to share technology devices or parents to focus on one child at a time. If you are looking for additional resources, check out the DOE list at https://sites.google.com/k12.hi.us/resources-student-parent/home?authuser=0. Keep in mind that these are all enrichment activities and are not being graded.
Attached is an article I came across online about screen time that I found interesting so I'm sharing it with you. I asked students to follow the 20/20/20 rule: Look away from the screen every 20 minutes, focus on an object at least 20 feet away for 20 seconds. It is also recommended they walk away every hour for about 10 minutes.
Please continue to let me know if you have any questions. If you didn't get a chance to complete our class survey or the school survey yet, please do so as soon as possible. There are 6 more families who need to submit the class survey. Use the links below.

Have a wonderful day!
Thank you,
Mrs. Au
