Aloha C1-C Families,
I've posted the spirit day photos on our class site. Thank you for sharing your photos. If you didn't get a chance to send one, it's not too late. The final spirit day of the year is Friday, May 8th. The theme is Disney. Please read below for further announcements.
Student survey - If your child has time this weekend, please have him/her check Google Classroom to complete the survey. If not, they can do it on Monday.
Next WebEx - Our next meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 4th at 2:00pm. The Math Origo at Home focus for week 6 is on comparing fractions, but the following week will be decimals. In preparation for decimals, I would like to do a lesson on Monday with relating fractions to decimals using a slice of cheese. Students are welcome to follow along with their own slice of cheese and a plastic knife. If you don't have cheese, they can attempt to follow along using something else that is thin and easy to cut through that is in the shape of a square. If not, they could use a square post-it. They will be dividing/cutting the square into tenths and hundredths. We will also attempt to show thousandths. In following with the virtual learning guidelines etiquette, please remind your child to sit at a table or desk and avoid walking around with their device.
Library book drop off - Mark your calendars for Monday, May 11th to drop off your child's PRE library books between 9-11 am. A phone blast will be sent out soon. Cars will drive through the PRE parking lot and do a curbside drop off in front of the office. Your help in clearing your child's outstanding obligations before the end of the school year is greatly appreciated.
Student supplies - The plan to pick up your child's supplies is scheduled for May 29th. I will be packing your child's belongings into bags and labeling them in preparation for a curbside pick up. Yearbooks will also be distributed on this day. Stay tuned for further details.
Library Activities and Book Fair - Our online bookfair runs through May 8th. Visit the PRE site for further information. The library activities are now available on the Library Learning Center page, which can be accessed through the PRE site. Added to the list is a read-aloud of The Bad Seed, making origami and a virtual tour of the Koinoburi in Tokyo Dome set up for Children's Day. Another way to access books is through Sora. Check out a tutorial on how to get started on the library page.
Enjoy your weekend!
Thank you,
Mrs. Au
