Aloha C1-C Families,
I hope your week is off to a great start. As a parent, I'm still finding it challenging to be a homeschool teacher to my two kids. I've fallen behind on the Math Origo for the week so we have some catching up to do. So please know you are not alone in the struggles we are facing in this new experience. 😊
Please read below for announcements and updates:
Intent to return survey- In preparation for the next school year, please complete the intent to return to PRE survey that was posted on the PRE site. For your convenience, you can click on the link below. Please note that a survey must be completed for EACH PRE student in your family.
Survey link: Intent to return to PRE survey.
PRE office email- Due to the closure of the school, our office has limited office hours to answer phone calls and attend to essential business. Therefore, if you need to contact the office when it is closed, you may send your email to [email protected].
Report cards- Thank you again to ALL C1-C FAMILIES for completing the report card distribution survey. Report cards will be sent home next week. Please note that for those of you who gave consent to receive your child's report card electronically, it will come from my work (pridge) email. However, please continue to send correspondence to this email account. It helps me to keep things organized.
Schedule example- I created a template you are welcome to use if it works for you and/or your child to help them get organized with all the different enrichment activities. I use this with my two kids for their assignments and it helps them to know what tasks they need to get done for the day and makes it more manageable. There are extra rows on the second page if you find it useful and you can even add more if needed. You can add things like other extracurricular activities, chores, etc. If your family situation doesn't allow for your child to do all of the enrichment, feel free to modify it to fit your family's needs. There is a word document template attachment and a link to the google doc. If you would like to modify the google doc, you can make a copy of it by going to File --> Make a copy if you have a google account.

Checking Gmail- I posted a new announcement on Google classroom for the students (post #20). I would like the students to get into the habit of checking their email each time before they begin their work. If there are class announcements, I will post it on Google classroom, but if I need to tell them something individually, I will send them an email to their pridge account. Please remind them that this email account is to be used for school purposes only. They've never had to check their email for class before so your child may need some help accessing it.
Time capsule journal- Many students have started to work on their COVID-19 time capsule. The beginning slides include information about themselves at this moment in time and what life is currently like. I encourage them to be creative with it. They can add a background color or change the font, add images, etc. They could even add slides to make it meaningful to them. Before they work on the beginning slides, I would like them to take the time to write on their journal slide. There is one for each weekday and the weekends are chunked onto one slide. They can write their thoughts and feelings about what is happening, record memorable moments or facts, as well as insert a picture or two. They do not need to fill up the entire page. The ending slides include a timeline of Hawaii events related to COVID-19 issues. I started it off with events that started on March 6-April 3. You are welcome to help suggest additional events to add to their timeline. They can add in additional events and dates before or in between the ones that are already there. My hope is this will be something they enjoy working on and can look back at years later to remember this historical moment.
I hope you managed to make it to the end of this email. 😊
Have a great day!
